Back-to-School sales tax holiday begins

Whether students learn from home, online or in the classroom this year, they’ll still need supplies.

And just in time, the 2020 Back-to-School state tax holiday begins this weekend but it’s brief, from Aug. 7 – Aug. 9.

Eligible items under $15 -- binders, calculators, folders, markers, pencils and scissors -- are tax exempt.

So is clothing that costs less than $60.

The first $1,000 of a sale price for a computer and related accessories is also tax free if it’s for home or personal use.

A complete list of items that qualify for the discount are online.

The school year begins Aug. 31, with online learning. --Megan Jacobo
