Are you a woman who owns a business and wants to grow it?  BankUnited may be able to help.

The lender is headquartered in Miami Lakes and is underwriting its second annual “Small Business, Big Dreams Challenge” with prizes of $10,000, $5,000 and $2,500 awarded to first, second and third place finishers.

“At BankUnited, we know that small businesses improve their communities by creating jobs, promoting innovation and progress and fueling the local economy,” Lisa Shim, the bank’s senior executive vice president and head of consumer and small business banking, said in a media release.

Championing women business owners through programs like the “Small Business, Big Dreams Challenge” will provide resources and tools to women that will help them succeed, she said.

Open to female entrepreneurs in New York and Florida, the bank wants contestants to complete an application and submit a three-minute-long video to describe their business and how winning the top prize will benefit the company.

Ten semi-finalists will present their business during the first round of judging at a live event in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, Oct. 20.

Three finalists will make their pitches to a live audience.
