BankUnited has launched its Kindergarten to College savings account pilot program.

In association with the Town of Miami Lakes and its Economic Development Committee and Education Advisory Board, BankUnited’s plan is aimed to help children who are ages Pre-K through high school to learn financial literacy and earn interest on savings for college or other higher learning opportunities.

Steven Brimo, BankUnited’s producing market leader and a member of the town’s Economic Development Committee, said the bank anticipates offering the program across the state after the launch in town.

BankUnited will match the opening deposit, up to $25. Minimum daily balances are not required and monthly maintenance fees are not charged.

Parents may open accounts for their children at the BankUnited branch, 15201 NW 67th Ave. or call 305-827-2108.
