Ciancy Bernal’s quest to make sure Miami Lakers are well read continues with the installation of a fourth Little Free Library.
Ciancy, 16, a rising junior at Archbishop McCarthy High School, received a $1,000 check for the library from Fred Senra.
Senra, a partner at the Miami Lakes AutoMall, presented Ciancy a check on July 16.
“I’m very thankful and grateful to him and the whole community,” Ciancy said.
She is also very thankful to her Miami Lakes neighbors who have supported the previous two boxes she did on her own. Her first Little Free Library was installed with her brother Armando Bernal, with a second going up in November 2025 and a third in the spring of 2026.
Ciancy has a location in mind but is waiting for approval from the Town of Miami Lakes.
The boxes cost $800 to install and include the weatherproof metal box and the pole it sits on. The town installs the libraries. It currently has 11.
Located around parks in Miami Lakes, the libraries allow residents to take a book and leave a book for free.
Normally Ciancy works with residents to crowdfund the money, but with Senra’s donation she can move ahead to the installation.
Ciancy’s mother, Yancy Bernal, said the leftover $200 will go towards a fifth box.
