The Bobcat Dance Competition Team from Bob Graham Education Center (BGEC) had the opportunity to compete this past month at the Contest of Champions Nationals. This competition was held at the ESPN Disney Wide World of Sports in Orlando as Disney celebrated its 31st year of hosting the event.

This is the second year that the BGEC Bobcat Dancers have participated in competition under dance director Mayri Martinez. The teammates captivated the judges with an Open Routine and came back home as first place national winners in their division. In addition to the competition, the team was also invited to perform for the Disney Performing Arts in Downtown Disney.

The team had the opportunity to showcase some of their routines for a diverse audience as honorary Disney Performing Arts Dancers. The Bobcat Dancers were awarded their Mickey Ears along with a Mickey Mouse Trophy for their performance.

“It is such a great privilege to be able to coach a group of young ladies who work with such hard determination, passion and love for dance,” said Martinez.
