Dr. Enrique Gongora is the guest speaker for the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce’s monthly membership luncheon, which is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 11, at Don Shula’s Hotel Grand Ballroom.
Gongora is a board-certified cardiac surgeon. In tribute to February as Heart Awareness Month, his topic will focus on “Keeping Our Hearts Healthy!”
Gongora earned his medical degree from the Universidad del Rosario in Bogota in 1992, and completed his residency training in general surgery and a fellowship in surgical critical care at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. He then completed a residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester.
Gongora then pursued further fellowship training in adult cardiac surgery and thoracic transplantation/ mechanical circulatory support at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Prior to joining Memorial Healthcare System, Gongora served as director of Thoracic Transplantation at Scott and White Clinic-Texas A & M Health Science Center College Medicine in Temple, and as surgical director of Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support at Drexel University College of Medicine, Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Networking starts at 11:30 a.m., luncheon at noon. Deadline to reserve a table is at 2 p.m., Friday, February 6.
Lunch admission is $30 for members and their guests who reserve a table, $35 for members and their guests who don’t reserve and $40 for non members (cash only).
