Internationally acclaimed Orthodox Christian writer and broadcaster Father Stephen Freeman will be appearing at Christ the Saviour Orthodox Cathedral at 16601 N.W. 77 Court on Saturday, October 20.
Freeman is host of the show “Glory to God for All Things” on Ancient Faith Radio and author of the book “Everywhere Present.” To listen to his show, visit www.AncientFaith.com. He will lead the cathedral’s autumn retreat titled “Face to Face: Shame and our Encounter with God.”
In conjunction with the autumn retreat, the cathedral will be receiving a visit from the Iveron Icon of Honolulu. This religious painting of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary he is displaying in the photo (locatioin) has been certified by the Russian Orthodox Church as a miraculous icon. Myrrh oil continuously collects on the surface of the painting, and there have been several documented cases of miraculous healing of those anointed with it.
The autumn retreat begins at 10:30 a.m. and concludes at 6 p.m. Admission is free, and no registration is required. Food trucks will be onsite for lunch. For more info, go to www.OrthodoxMiami.org or call (305) 822-0437.
