Feb. 1 Miami Lakes Food & Wine Festival. The seventh annual Miami Lakes Food & Wine Festival returns for a night under the stars and sips and small bites, to benefit the Miami Lakes Town Foundation. Miami Lakes Optimist Park, 6411 NW 162nd St. 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets $135 and may be purchased at www.mlfoodwinefest.com. This is a 21+ event, and a photo ID is required to enter.

March 1 Inaugural Spartan Swine Showdown Monsignor Edward Pace High School’s competitive pig roast, to raise funds for campus improvements. Advance tickets are $20, day of $25. Four-person teams must register by Feb. 1. A $450 fee includes a 40-to-50-pound pig, reserved cooking spot and team T-shirts. There will be food, drinks, performances and family activities too.
