April 5 Neighborhood Bike Ride for Autism Awareness Month Hosted by the Neighborhood Improvement Committee, 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. Depart from the Miami Lakes Farmer’s Market, Main Street at New Barn Road. Wear symbolic blue or decorate your bike with autism awareness ribbons and symbols. Free parking. Free.

April 5 Arts for Autism Resource Fair Presented by the Special Needs Advisory Board and the Arts for Autism Foundation. Enjoy dancing, raffles and family fun to raise funds for the Arts for Autism Foundation. Superhero costumes are encouraged for attendees and the best costume will be recognized. April 5 Vietnam War 50th Commemoration Hosted by the American Legion Post 144 in partnership with Miami Lakes Veterans Committee and Fishing with America’s Finest. April 6 Miami Lakes Cars for a Cure The 8th annual Miami Lakes Cars for a Cure will take over Main Street with over 250 cars, live music, a DJ, beer garden and food options at this event benefitting cancer research, held in memory of the late Vice Mayor Roberto Alonso. For more information or to register your car, visit www.mlcarsforacure.com. 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Main Street. Car show is free, buy tickets for the beer garden. 

April 9 Seniors Domino Tournament, Miami Lakes vs. Hialeah A friendly match sponsored by Mayor Josh Dieguez’s office. Elders may enjoy lunch, win prizes and enter raffles. April 12 Special Needs Advisory Board & Hope for Autism Talent Show The Miami Lakes Special Needs Advisory Board and Hope for Autism will present a talent show featuring members of Hope for Autism. 6 p.m. Roberto Alonso Community Center, 16500 NW 87 Ave. Free. 

April 17 Mt. Sinai Health Lecture The Elderly Affairs Committee will host Dr. Kevin Wang from Mt. Sinai Medical Center. He will talk about the rotator cuff, what it is and how it’s treated. Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St. 11 a.m. Free. Pre-registration required. 

Children’s Book DriveThrough April 25 The Town of Miami Lakes and the Education Advisory Board are collecting new and gently-used children’s books. Drop off donations at Town Hall, 6601 Main St. 

April 19 Spring Fling Easter Egg Hunt The Youth Activities Task Force presents its annual Easter egg hunt, games and more family fun. Veterans Park, 15151 NW 82nd Ave. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free. 

April 19 The Miami Lakes Garden Club Field Trip to the Hialeah Gardens Botanical Garden Admission is free to the Botanical Garden at 13501 NW 107th Ave. Those wishing to carpool can meet at 9:45 a.m. in the Winn-Dixie parking lot, Royal Oaks Plaza, 15400 NW 77th Court, for a 10 a.m. departure.
