June 14 Father’s Day Fishing Tournament The Town of Miami Lakes and its Cultural Affairs Committee presents this annual tournament for kids and their dads. Graham Dairy Lake, 8100 Governors Square Blvd. 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. Free for residents.

June 21 Skate Miami Lakes. Grab your skateboard, rollerblades, roller skates or scooter and come out to the monthly Skate Miami Lakes program, in conjunction with nonprofit organization SkateFree. Participants must bring their own equipment. Miami Lakes Youth Center, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive. Free. 10 a.m.

July 4 Fourth of July Celebration. Enjoy the annual Independence Day tradition at Veterans Park with food and beverage trucks, live music performed by MANTRAP and fireworks set to go off at 9 p.m. There will be a Kids Zone with fun games. A Sensory Inclusive Zone will have games and noise-reducing headphones, set up inside the Mary Collins Community Center and presented by the Miami Lakes Special Needs Advisory Board. Vendors will sell beer and wine. Bring coolers, beach chairs and picnic blankets. Not permitted: outside alcohol, staked flag poles and umbrellas; pets; sparklers; fireworks and grills. Free parking at area office buildings: 8100 Oak Lane; 8000 Governors Square Blvd.; 15280 NW 79th Ave.; 14900, 15050 and 15150 NW 79th Court and 15255 Oak Lane. Expect traffic delays before and after the event. Veterans Park, 15151 NW 82nd Ave. 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Free. 

July 23 Senior Field Trip to the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables to see the play “Step by Step” by Peter Quilter. Depart from Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St. 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Sponsored by Miami-Dade County Commissioner Sen. Rene Garcia. Free.

Aug. 16 Summer Strings Enjoy a night of classical music as presented by Music for America as part of their summer tour. Miami Lakes Methodist Church, 14800 NW 67th Ave. 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Free.
