April 5 Health lecture by Barry University. Join the Elderly Affairs Committee for a discussion about balance problems, osteoporosis and losing muscle tone. Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St. Free. 11 a.m. 

April 6 Community Bike Ride for Autism Awareness Month. Join the Town of Miami Lakes and its Neighborhood Improvement Committee for a two-hour ride around town dedicated to raising awareness and support. Wear the symbolic blue color or decorate your ride with autism awareness ribbons and symbols. Depart from the Miami Lakes Youth Center, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive. Rider registration and sign in at 7:30 a.m. Free. 

April 6 American Legion Post 144 Annual Picnic Open to all veterans, members of the military and their families. Veterans Park, 15151 NW 82nd Ave. 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Free.

April 7 Miami Lakes Cars for a Cure. The 8th annual Miami Lakes Cars for a Cure returns to Main Street. Organized by the Alonso Family in memory of Roberto Alonso, Sr. Money from the event benefits Alex’s Place at the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Look at vehicles from all eras, enjoy live music from Mantrap band and Ricky Valido. Admission to the beer garden is $30 for craft beers, wine and and roasted pork. April 13 3rd Annual Arts for Autism Resource Fair. Presented by the Miami Lakes Special Needs Advisory Board and Arts for Autism, there will be music, dancing, snacks and raffles to help benefit the Arts for Autism Foundation. April 14 Breanna Vergara 5k. Join the Breanna Vergara Foundation for the 9th Annual Breanna Vergara 5K at Veterans Park. Runners can participate in a 5k ($35), a one-mile color fun run ($20) or both races ($45), which benefit the foundation that supports pediatric heart health. April 16 Senior Bingo Luncheon. Join the Elderly Affairs Committee for bingo, a meal, fun and prizes. Roberto Alonso Community Center, 16500 NW 87th Ave. Ages 60+. Free. 11 a.m. 

April 17 Senior field trip to the Miami Marlins. Seniors 60+ can join the Elderly Affairs Committee to cheer on the Miami Marlins as they take on the San Francisco Giants. Open only to Miami Lakes residents, registration is required as seating is limited and identification is required. Free. Bus departs from Town Hall, 6601 Main St. at 10:15 a.m. 

April 20 St. Andrews Lutheran Church Lechon Fest. Enjoy lechon, music, games and raffles at the church’s fundraiser. Meal tickets are $10, raffle tickets cost $5. St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 575 W. 68th St., Hialeah. 3 p.m. 

April 22 Miami Lakes Garden Club Celebrate Earth Day by making flower or plant-themed greeting cards for holidays, birthdays and thank you notes. Let the club know on its Facebook page that you are going to attend the meeting so they can have enough supplies available. Free and open to the public. April 25 FIU NeighborhoodHELP Presentation. Join the Elderly Affairs Committee for a free presentation by Florida International University’s Neighborhood Health education learning program that focuses on home health care. Pre-registration is required. Town Hall, 6601 Main St. Free. 11 a.m.
