May 4 The Zonta Club of Miami Lakes Kentucky Derby Casino Gala Join the Zonta Club of Miami Lakes for a fun night of dinner, drinks, raffles and other activities while watching the Kentucky Derby at the Miami Lakes Hotel on Main, 6842 Main St. Dress in your Kentucky Derby best. May 11 Paint a Picture for Mom The Miami Lakes Cultural Affairs Committee and Miami Lakes Farmer’s Market are sponsoring this annual event. New Barn Road and Main Street. Sign up a child in advance, TOML.Eventbrite.com.  10 a.m. - Noon. Free. 

May 11 Celebration of the Life of Bob Graham at Miami Lakes United Church of Christ, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., free and open to the public. Park across the street at the Miami Lakes K-8 Center School, 14250 NW 67th Ave., or watch a livestream in either the church fellowship hall or Miami Lakes Hotel on Main, inside ML Steaks + Sports, 6842 Main St.  Followed by a reception at ML Steaks + Sports, also open to the public, from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.  Guests who wish to contribute their memories of the late U.S. senator, Florida governor and Miami Laker may record them that afternoon for a living history project at the hotel, in recordings made by the Bob Graham Center for Pubic Service based at the University of Florida.
