June 21 Make Sandbags. Kids ages 12 to 17 can sign up to fill sandbags used to prevent flooding and earn community service hours. Volunteers should wear sneakers, a hat and sunblock and bring water. Royal Oaks Park, 16500 NW 87th Ave. 9 a.m. to noon. 

June 21 Masquerade and Casino Evening for Children with Special Needs Presented by the Arc of South Florida and the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce. Casino games, virtual auction, raffles, food and wine tastings, live music, dancing. June 25 Social Security Seminar hosted by Mayor Manny Cid. Mayor Manny Cid will host a seminar featuring Social Security Administration Official Evelyn Linares. Residents can learn about upcoming changes to benefits; retirement benefits; learn about preventing fraud and have their cases reviewed by Linares. July 4 Fourth of July Celebration. Join the Town of Miami Lakes for the annual Fourth of July Celebration at Veterans Park. Enjoy music, food and family-friendly activities capped off with fireworks. The Special Needs Advisory Board will once again a sensory friendly room inside the Mary Collins Community Center for attendees who may need a break. July 25 Senior Field Trip. Join the Elderly Affairs Committee to cheer on the Miami Marlins as they take on the Baltimore Orioles. Open only to residents 65+, seating is limited and reservations are required. Guests must show identification.
