June 1 Senior Field Trip -- Miami Marlins Game. Join the Elderly Affairs Committee to watch the Miami Marlins take on the San Diego Padres. Residents 65+ will get free transportation and tickets for this game. Preregistration at TOML.Eventbrite.com is required and seating is limited. Depart from Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St. Registration starts at 11 a.m., bus leaves at 11:30 a.m.

June 1 Miami Lakes Library Renovation Project Community Meeting. See design plans and learn about the renovation of the building inside and out. 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m., Miami Lakes Branch Library, 6699 Windmill Gate Road. June 3 Miami-Dade County Public Schools Job Fair The school district is hiring for jobs that pay $15 per hour, including maintenance trades and mechanics; food service; bus drivers; treasurers/clerical; paraprofessionals and more. 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Miami Lakes Educational Center, 5780 NW 158th St., Miami Lakes. June 3 Skate Miami Lakes. Kids ages 8-to-16 can bring their skateboards, scooters and skates to Picnic Park East. Two instructors from the SkateFree nonprofit organization will help kids with their skills on a portable skate park set up on the basketball court near the Youth Center. Miami Lakes Picnic Park East, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive. 10 a.m. – Noon. Free. 

June 7 Bunco game and lunch with the Miami Lakes Garden Club Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 NW 82nd Ave. Noon. Chance to win prizes, $6 fee includes lunch. 

June 8 Senior Field Trip -- Calder Casino. Members of the Elderly Affairs Committee invites Miami Lakes residents 60+ to enjoy the day at Calder Casino. Residents will need to provide proof of residency. Seating is limited. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. Bus departs at 11 a.m. Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St. 10:30 a.m. Free. 

June 10 Senior Tech Connect: Smartphone Hardware and Software Basics A one-hour class presented by the Elderly Affairs Committee and Senior Tech Connect. Learn to identify side and back buttons; use airplane mode; understand software updates; enlarge text; organize the home screen and set up password lock. Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St. 10 a.m. Registration required at toml.eventbrite.com.

June 10 American Legion Post 144 meeting. Come see what the American Legion is all about during Post 144’s monthly meeting. Veterans of all branches and eras of service are welcome to join the American Legion. Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 Northwest 82 Ave. 10 a.m. Free to attend. 

June 14 Senior Bingo Luncheon. Join the Elderly Affairs Committee for its bi-monthly bingo luncheon for seniors 60+ in the Town of Miami Lakes. Seniors can enjoy lunch and a chance to play for prizes. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St. 11 a.m. Free. 

June 14 Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon. Guest speaker is Jorge Colina, town resident and former chief of police for the City of Miami. Miami Lakes Hotel on Main, 6842 Main St. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch is at noon. Tickets are $35 for members, $45 for non-members, $50 day of event. June 17 Father’s Day Fishing Tournament. The Cultural Affairs Committee invites dads, granddads and kids to its annual contest on the northern shore of Graham Dairy Lake for catch and release fun. Bring your own rods and reels. Residents ages 16-64 must have a valid freshwater fishing license from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.  Apply at https://bit.ly/3WyqzOC and email a copy to pastoraa@miamilakes-fl.gov. Medals for youngest and oldest anglers; smallest and largest catch; most fish caught; first fish caught and best overall. Groups limited to three individuals. June 21 Public Meeting on Blasting Issues Invited guests include Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and elected officials. 6801 NW 186th St., doors open 6 p.m., meeting is 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. Free.

June 24 Pride Awareness Celebration at the Main Street Playhouse. A 90-minute evening of poetry, music and performance of a short play. 6812 Main St., Miami Lakes. Light refreshments and a cash bar will be available. 7:30 p.m. Free.
