Community Thursday, March 19, 2015

Miami Lakes will host a Contractor Certification Class, presented by Ygrene Energy Fund, from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, March 26, at Town Hall, 6601 Main Street. The free class is open to both commercial and residential contractors.

Miami Lakes Town Council voted to join the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Program during its December meeting. The PACE program provides upfront financing for energy conservation and efficiency (i.e. energy-efficient heating, cooling, or ventilation systems), renewable energy (i.e solar panels), wind resistance (i.e. impact resistant windows), and other improvements. Only certified contractors will be eligible to bid on the Program’s Projects.

Topics for the Ygrene course include:

• Learn the Program – Everything you need to know to take advantage of the PACE Program and understand the ways it can help your business.

• Work with the Software – Teaches how to use the software that makes it easy to follow the steps that lead to qualified projects and fast payment for completed jobs.

• Build Customer Skills – Helps participants to become more professional, confident and skilled at closing projects and provides transparent feedback on their progress.

• Use the Tools – Energy assessment audits help to identify new energy standard technology and unique green products available for construction.

A laptop is required for training; space is limited and registration is required.
