Cousins Anthony Perez, 10, at left, and Jayden Valdes, 12, at right, show off their catch of a Butterfly Peacock Bass at Lake Adele in Miami Lakes on Feb. 28.
The boys were “in awe” of what they pulled up from the water, according to Anthony’s father, Manny Perez, who provided the photo.
This bass likes to eat other fish and is native to Brazil, according to the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.
It can also be found
in canals in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.
