Culinary Bike Tour to sample restaurants on Sept. 21

The popular Culinary Bike Tour returns on Sept. 21, when bicyclists will get to sample small bites at restaurants across Miami Lakes.

This year’s five-mile, nighttime ride travels to restaurants in the Lake Patricia and Cypress Village shopping centers and along Main Street for a fun night of drinks and tastes from the varied menus offered in town.

Returning this year is the party bike. Its 14 seats sold out in 2023. A second party bike was added this year and both bikes -- that allow groups to pedal together -- for this year’s event are sold out.  Residents can still purchase individual tickets for $30.

Golf carts and scooters are not allowed in the tour, and it is a 21-and-older event.

The 2023 ride drew 187 cyclists and $5,820 was raised to fund costs such as police overtime and paying the 12 restaurants that participated.

Stops along this year’s tour will be at Domenico’s Italian Restaurant; DiCED; Dr. Limón Ceviche Bar; Cruzeiro Brazilian Steakhouse; La Diosa Taqueria; Açai Express and Chela’s Cocteleria

“We always try to do different types of events to support the community, and we’re able to have fun, so we can enjoy it,” Chela’s Co-Owner Carlos Padilla said.

Joining in the fun for the first time will be the restaurants BB’s Bakehouse and Amazonia Nikkei

Amazonia Nikkei participated in the 2024 Food & Wine Festival in February and the tour will be their second marquee event in town.

The Japanese-Peruvian fusion spot couldn’t do the culinary bike tour last year because they hadn’t been open for long.

“This year we felt we much more prepared and we [wanted] to do this for the people of Miami Lakes we know,” Co-Owner Nicolas Malkind said in Spanish. “We think it’s important to support all the events they do in Miami Lakes, not only for us but to help grow the town.”

Tickets will be on sale until the day of the ride or until 172 tickets are sold.

The Culinary Bike Tour leaves Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St. at 6 p.m.
