University of Notre Dame alumnus and Miami Lakes resident, Daniel Yanez, leads the Alumni Association group, Notre Dame Club of Miami which is hosting the “1st Annual Irish Golf Classic” golf scramble on Friday, December 5 at Don Shula's Golf Club. Deadline to register is Friday, November 21. To sign up, visit www.ndmiamigolf.com.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the group’s Student Scholarship Foundation which raises funds to financially assist high school seniors from Miami who have been accepted and will attend the University of Notre Dame. In 2014 alone the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit group donated over $10,000 to 10 charities.

Yanez, a longtime native, and youngest Notre Dame alumnus named president of an alumni club, is eager to raise funds for the next generation of Miami transplants at University of Notre Dame in his hometown. Yanez created the event and scheduled 1995 Notre Dame graduate and former Miami Dolphins safety who played in the NFL for 9 seasons, Shawn Wooden, as honorary chairman of the tournament.

The golf scramble tournament field will be made up mostly of Notre Dame alumni, but the event is open to all. The tournament will conclude with an Awards Dinner at Don Shula's Steakhouse.
