Fla. Rep. Tom Fabricio, R-Miami Lakes, presented a $1.6 million symbolic check to the Town of Miami Lakes during its Aug. 19 council meeting. The money will go toward extension of the turn lane on southbound Northwest 77th Court from westbound Northwest 154th Street, and for improvements to the drainage system along Big Cypress Drive between Miami Lakeway South and Twin Sabal Drive.

“Thank you to Senator [Bryan] Avila [and] Representative Fabricio for helping us,” Mayor Josh Dieguez said. “This money obviously goes a long way to helping to fund infrastructure in the town of Miami Lakes.”

Fabricio and state Sen. Bryan Avila, R-Hialeah Gardens worked together to fulfil two of the town’s legislative priorities.

“I appreciate that we were able to get this project done,” Fabricio said. “Senator Avila and I have fought to bring these dollars back to do two projects this year.”
