This is the final weekend for award-winning author David Michael Sirois’ play, Secrets of the La Croix, at the Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street in Miami Lakes.
The play is about a day in the life of Roger La Croix, that day being the worst Thanksgiving of his life. It starts out with not being able to watch the big game on his broken television, but when his son comes home and reveals a big secret, chaos ensues.
The holiday begins to unravel faster than he could have ever imagined. Full of fun, regret, laughs, lies and Cranberry Sauce, this comedic Thanksgiving farce isn’t a holiday, it’s a war.
Performances are Friday and Saturday, May 16-17, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the door or online at www.mainstreetplayers.com.
Following the final show on May 18, The Main Street Players will present three scholarships to seniors from local Miami Lakes high schools. Scholarship hopefuls must be members of their high school's drama department or drama club and attending college in the fall of 2014 for a performing arts curriculum. The Main Street Players hope to make the scholarships available as an annual event for deserving college-bound students.
On Saturday, June 28, The Main Street Players will present the ever popular magician, Dylan Ace for one performance at 7 p.m. On Monday, June 30, in conjunction with the South Florida Theater League, the Main Street Players is hosting one of the Theatre League Summer Fest play readings, The Pot by Glenn Hutchinson. Admission is free for the play reading but donations to Main Street Players will be accepted in the lobby. More information on Dylan Ace and The Pot will be made available soon.
Additionally, the Main Street Players' first session for the summer Children's Theater Workshop is full, however session two, beginning in July, is still open for registration.
