Forty-five students from Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) will have the opportunity to participate in a summer program called Future Bankers' Camp. CareerSource South Florida and other local banking institutions are sponsoring the program to strengthen its commitment to expose students to careers in the financial industry.

The Miami Dade College School of Business and the Center for Financial Training Future Bankers’ Camp will prepare students enrolled in programs of the Academy of Finance in secondary schools Barbara Goleman, Coral Gables, Coral Reef, Mater Academy East Charter, Miami Jackson, North Miami Beach and Miami Sunset.

The summer program will provide students with different educational opportunities to improve their skills in mathematics and in the field of communication, including an internship program and receive certification in the industry that has the ultimate goal to be prepared for college and careers. This initiative is also aligned with the association and the school district’s participation in the One Community One Goal targeted Industry Implementation Plan.

Once students have successfully completed the program, they are eligible to receive the certificate of American Bankers Association (ABA), American Institute of Banking (AIB) Bank Teller. This national industry certification meets the educational requirements for the certification exam offered by the Institute of Certified Bankers (ICBA). The high school graduates who are interested in obtaining an associate degree in Financial Services also have the opportunity to enroll in the program.

The program of the Academy of Finance Public Schools Miami-Dade County is a member of the National Academy Foundation (NAF), a national network of career academies to support personal development and professional success in high school, higher education and throughout their careers. Academies of Finance are available in 15 high schools in Miami-Dade.
