Give Miami Day is coming up next week.  It’s the annual event that invites people in South Florida to donate online to their favorite non-profits that are among the 1,100 organizations that participate.

Last year 41,000 donors gave more than $32 million to such groups, according to The Miami Foundation, which hosts the 24-hour event on Nov. 16.

There are many groups in and near Miami Lakes that donors may support and are close to home.

A search for ‘Miami Lakes’ on the foundation’s website brought up these organizations: Main Street Players; HML PTSA; Hope Mission Inc.; Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy PTSA; First Tee Miami; Ballet Etudes of South Florida, Inc.; Just an Accident Stop Hit and Runs, Inc.; Teen Upward Bound; The Marian Center School and Services, Inc.; Guardians of Human Rights Foundation; Pelican Playhouse Inc. and The Education Fund.

You may also find a particular organization by searching just for that name. Categories for giving include animals; arts and culture; community care; economic and community development; education and youth; environment; faith-based; health and wellness; human rights advocacy and civic engagement and inclusion.
