While growing up in Venezuela, Dali Ruiz marveled at her mother’s artistry to make people look their best as a certified nail technician and facial and body therapist.
She followed in her mother’s footsteps in her homeland and later was seeking to start her own business but in another country.
Her television set was her window to America and watching shows on the increasing success of nails and spa salons essentially sealed her decision to relocate to the United States.
Ruiz and her husband arrived in Miami 15 years ago, when she first worked for several nails and spa companies, including her previous stint at Rhoda Salon in Miami Gardens, before she was able to start her own business, Glamour Nails and Spa in Miami Lakes.
The business, 13969 N.W. 67 Avenue in the Lake Patricia Shopping Center, had its grand opening two weeks ago, where a crowd on hand celebrated Ruiz’s new venture.
"I'm excited," said Ruiz, who has lived in the Miami Lakes area with her husband for 15 years. "I love to do nails, massages, and skin treatments to make people good. I had been working for a long time but I realized it was time for me to go into my own business."
Glamour Nails and Spa offers customers manicures, pedicures, deep tissue massages, body waxing, facial and skin treatments, dry therapy, cavitation and vaccumtherapy.
Ruiz and her staff can also remove dead cells in the face to help renew the skin and treat cellulite.
Ruiz said she loves to do nails with the different designs to make them look colorful and pretty.
“It’s our pleasure to please our customers,” Ruiz said.
Ruiz said improving the beauty of people is her true calling in life.
“ I love to service people by enhancing the beauty of women,” she said. “That’s what I was born to do.”
Glamour Nails and Spa is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday.
The business is closed on Sunday and Monday.
Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are highly recommended.
The business is having a special for first time customers, $25 on a manicure and pedicure.
