Miami Lakes resident Roberto Garcia was appointed in mid March by Governor Rick Scott and Florida Surgeon General John Armstrong, to the Florida Board of Respiratory Care. Garcia earned his bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration and is a Registered Respiratory Therapist, credentialed with the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and licensed with the state of Florida.

As new board member for the Respiratory Board, Garcia is responsible for licensing, monitoring, disciplining, education and when appropriate, rehabilitating practitioners to assure that they are competent to provide the services for which they are licensed, for the state of Florida.

Garcia has worked in all facets of respiratory care for 23 years, such as trauma, critical care, pulmonary rehabilitation, transplants and open heart among others, and currently holds an administrative position. He is the director of Respiratory Care at Kindred South Florida-Hollywood.

“It is an honor and privilege to be able to sit on this board and serve our state in this capacity,” said Garcia. “While this state I believe does a great job in providing the best care to their people, I will also make sure that the Respiratory Therapists that work in this state have all the resources necessary to continue providing that good quality and effective care.”
