Calling all cowgirls and cowboys! Miami Lakes jeweler Gary Snow, the Calendar Girls of the ‘60s and Hialeah Senior High School Class of ’67 are hosting a reunion and dance party to defray medical bills for alumni.
It will be an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, enjoy an all-you-can-eat Texas-style barbecue and attend a two step and line dancing party.
Snow said the event is not presented by a legal charity and contributions are not tax-deductible. He estimates that in the past six years, he has donated $100,000 to the cause.
On Oct. 3, guests may register at the Miami Lakes Hotel on Main and visit with classmates from the 1950s-1980s. The event is open to the public and friends and relatives are welcome, Snow said.
The next day, hotel guests may shop, play tennis, golf or pickleball and enjoy the pool.
From 6:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., the barbecue and Country and Western Sock Hop will happen at the hotel, when western wear is encouraged.
“So far, we have alumni coming from Wisconsin, Ohio and Orlando,” Snow said.
Tickets are $120 each for the Oct. 4 party, dinner and two free glasses of beer or wine. Payment is due Sept. 26.
Checks should be made payable to Gary Snow c/o HHS Cancer Fund, mailed or dropped off at 6837 Main St. in Miami Lakes, Fla. 33014. Call Snow at 305-556-0511 to pay by credit card or via Zelle, to SnowsJewelers@gmail.com.
If a line dancing lesson is needed, one-hour classes are available for $10 each on Sept. 15 and Sept. 29 at Country Heart Dance Company, 4911 SW 148th Ave. in Davie. Call Snow to reserve a place in a class.
