Works of art created by Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High (HML) art students were recently on display inside the Mary Collins Community Center. The HML students were among a group of student artists honored by U.S. Congressman Mario Diaz Balart for their achievements in creativity and expression.

The congressman spoke to a group of students, parents and teachers about the importance of art in education and students contributing to their community. One of the works of art will be selected by the congressman to be displayed in the halls of the Capitol Building in Washington D.C.

The art works included paintings, photographs and drawings created by students from both Dade and Broward counties. The HML students who participated are part of the school’s Advanced Placement art class in which students create advanced works of art throughout the year and assemble a portfolio with their accumulated works of art for college credit.
