A lot of students’ were without power for days as the Category 4 storm ruined their properties, uprooted large trees and debris in their neighborhoods.

Some students evacuated their homes and spent time at various shelters until the storm was over.

Some students acknowledged the experience took an emotional and financial toll on them but were glad to return to classes after school was closed for eight days due to Irma.
The students were featured on a recent NBC6 education segment narrated by reporter Ari Odzer.
