Jose Bueno, principal at Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High School, was named Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Principal of the Year for the North Region during a ceremony at Jungle Island in Miami.
Bueno began his teaching career in 1993 and by 2003, he had become principal of Jose Marti Middle School, where he raised the school grade from a “C” to an “A.”
He then became the founding principal of Country Club Middle School where once again, he propelled the school from a “D” to an “A.”
In 2010, Bueno took over a struggling HML and under his leadership, the school just received its first “A” rating.
“On behalf of the Town of Miami Lakes, we congratulate Jose Bueno on this prestigious recognition. His dedication to his work is truly making a difference in the lives of every student at Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High and we commend him for his efforts,” said Mayor Wayne Slaton.
