Miami Lakes area houses of worship have announced a variety of special holiday religious services and events.
Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, 6600 Miami Lakeway North, has set the following mass schedule for Christmas and the New Year:
Christmas Eve, Thursday Dec. 2 - 7 a.m. in Spanish, 8:30 a.m. in English, 4:30 p.m. Festival of Carols, 5 p.m. in English, 11:30 p.m Festival of Carols, and Midnight Bilingual.
Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25 - 10:30 a.m. in English and12:30 p.m. in Spanish.
New Year’s Eve, Thursday, Dec. 31- 7 a.m. in Spanish, 8:30 a.m. in English, and 5 p.m. in English.
New Year’s Day, Friday, Jan. 1- 9:30 a.m. in Spanish, 11 a.m. in English, and 12:30 p.m. in Spanish.
Miami Lakes Congregational Church, 6701 Miami Lakeway South, is hosting special service times during the Advent season. On the week of Christmas, Sunday, December 20, the Fourth Sunday of Advent Worship will take place with the theme being “joy.” On Christmas Eve, a Family Christmas Eve Worship will take place at 5 p.m. and a Sacred Christmas Eve Worship Communion/Candle Lighting.
Elevate Church, 6250 Miami Lakes Drive East, presents a series entitled “Vintage Christmas” which provides a message of hope and salvation. The church is also hosting an ugly sweater service on December 20 for services at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 12:30 p.m.
Continuing in tradition, the church will bring in the new year with a New Year's Family Fest (NYFF) on Friday, January 1, from 1 to 5 p.m. NYFF is a free event for the whole community which includes food, music, games, carnival rides, crafts, face painting, bounce houses, and prizes. Sunrise Presbyterian Church, located at 18400 N.W. 68 Avenue, is hosting special services for the Advent season. On December 20, the church choir will perform a Christmas Cantata at the 10 a.m. service and on Christmas Eve a Candlelight Service will be held at 7 p.m. Following Christmas, on December 27, a special service of worship will be held at 10 a.m. For more information call 305-821-5841.
Miami Lakes United Methodist Church, located at 14800 NW 67th Avenue in Miami Lakes, is hosting the second annual Winterfest event for the community. Winterfest will run from Tuesday, November 24 to Thursday, December 24. This newest addition following the church’s popular pumpkin patch hopes to achieve the same success in engaging the town of Miami Lakes and the surrounding communities. The festival is free admission and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Christmas Tree Sales will begin on November 24 and will continue through December 24. Attendees will also be able to participate in activities and take advantage of the multiple photo opportunities.
On Saturday, December 19, the Christmas Cantata performed by the church choir and Palm Springs United Methodist Church of Miami Lakes present “Canticles in Candlelight” by Joseph M. Martin at 4 p.m. at Epworth Village and at 7 p.m. at the Miami Lakes Methodist Church. For more information call 305-821-7274.
