Louis Edwin Pease of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 8 at his home. He was born on March 8, 1940 in Hialeah, the son of the late Everett Pease and the late Marie Ruth Geiger Pease.
He received an undergraduate degree from Duke University, a Masters degree from John Hopkins University, and a PhD from Florida State University.
He was a professor at Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School for many years.
Pease was passionate about the arts, history, politics and Duke basketball.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Braterman Pease in 2015. He was a member of the Mountain Synagogue in Franklin, North Carolina.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Meredith and Mica Maddry of Atlanta, brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Helen Pease of Spring Hill, Florida, several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on December 12 at the Mountain View Funeral Home in Blairsville, Georgia. The family requests donations may be made to FHS Society, www.fshsociety.org in memory of Pease.
