Religious Tuesday, July 14, 2015

Former Miami Lakes resident, Ellen Frances Pease, 72, passed away peacefully at her home in Hiawassee, Georgia, on Friday July 3, surrounded by her loving family. Pease was born on December 15, 1942 in Ellenville, N.Y., daughter of the late Martin Braterman and late Molly Windreich Braterman, and step-daughter of the late Eleanor Braterman.

Pease began her career as an English teacher at Miami Beach High and continued as a Guidance Counselor, ultimately retiring from Palm Springs North Elementary School. Pease’s natural compassion and interest in people made her the confidant of many, and strangers quickly became friends.

Pease and her husband, Louis, were long-time residents of Miami Lakes and members of Temple Beth Emet in Pembroke Pines. Pease remained active in Hiawassee over the years, volunteering with the town’s County Chamber of Commerce.

Surviving Pease are her loving husband and best friend of 48 years, Dr. Louis Edwin Pease of Hiawassee, daughter and son-in-law, Meredith and Mica Maddry of Atlanta, sisters Linda Ruth Braterman and Patricia Kearns of Lewis, Delaware, and Laurel Wilson of Scarsdale, N.Y., and numerous relatives and friends. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia, is in charge of arrangements. Loved ones are welcome to sign the family guest book and send condolences online at www.mountainviewfuneralhome.com.
