Jose Marti Mast 6-12 Academy aces U.S. News & World Report rankings, again

     U.S. News & World Report ranked Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy in Hialeah a Top 100 school in its annual report in August.

     “I think it’s fantastic,” Principal Jose Enriquez Jr. said. “I think it’s great for our community and our school, particularly the hard-working teachers and students.”

     Enriquez said feedback from parents is they are happy to see that everybody’s hard work is paying off. 

     The Knights achieved a #2 score in Miami-Dade County Public Schools; #3 in Miami Metro Area High Schools; reached #7 among Florida high schools and was 73rd in the nation, according to the magazine. 

     “We’re going up,” Enriquez said. “We’re aiming for number one.”  

     U.S. News & World Report said advanced placement exam participation rate at the school is 100%, minority enrollment is 97%, and 44% of students are economically disadvantaged. 

     The school has 82% mathematics proficiency; 94% reading proficiency; 100% proficiency in sci-ence and a 100% graduation rate. 

     Enrique said the school will continue to work hard to ensure that all of its students graduate. 

     “Sometimes we forget about who really makes a difference,” Enriquez said.

    “I try to lead my teach-ers, students and parents to excellence. They’re always up for the challenge.” 

     Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy is at 5701 W. 24th Ave. A magnet school, it offers classes focusing on math and science.
