At the October 6 Town Council meeting, Miami-Dade Police Officer Anthony Baez, a member of the detached Miami Lakes police unit, was named Officer of the Quarter for his bravery, astute powers of observation, and dedication to duty that exemplifies the Department’s highest standard of conduct.
On September 1, Miami Lakes officers were dispatched to a shooting incident involving employees who work at Business Park West. The suspect had fled the area. Baez responded and began pursuit. The suspect observed Baez’s marked vehicle behind him but refused to stop. Shortly thereafter, the suspect abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot and was subsequently apprehended by Baez.
