Miami-Dade School Board Member, Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall was one of the first recipients of the Georgia L. Jones-Ayers Community Award for her outstanding commitment to children. The award was presented during the African Heritage Cultural Arts Coalition’s Annual Spirit of Excellence Gala on Saturday, October 25, at the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center in Miami.
The award is named after community activist Georgia L. Jones-Ayers, who made advocating on the behalf of others her life’s’ work. Bendross-Mindingall is being honored for her work as an educator, state legislator, and for her current role as a member of the Miami-Dade School Board.
