M-Dade School Board approves initiatives by Hantman

The Miami-Dade County Public School Board unanimously approved four items proposed by Board chair Perla Tabares Hantman recognizing the members of the Miami-Dade County Legislative Delegation, as well as the endorsement of Hispanic Heritage Month, “Walk-to-School” Day, and “Ethical Governance Day.”

“I would like thank the Miami-Dade Delegation for their unwavering support of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, especially increasing statewide education funding and student allocation,” said Hantman. “Additionally, I am proud to be able to bring forth initiatives that promote student safety, raise their consciousness and celebrate the histories and cultures of Hispanics around South Florida.”

The Board voted to recognize the members of the Miami-Dade County Legislative Delegation for their support of Miami-Dade County Public Schools during the 2015 and 2015A Legislative Sessions. The Board also endorsed October 7, 2015 as International “Walk to School Day;” September 15 to October 15, 2015 as Hispanic Heritage Month in Miami-Dade County Public Schools; and October 22, 2015 as “Ethical Governance Day 2014” in Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
