Hundreds of senior citizens dressed in Holiday-themed attire came out to party at the Town of Miami Lakes’ annual Holiday Senior Social on December 14 at Roberto Alonso Community Center at Royal Oaks Park.

As part of the event, the town’s Elderly Affairs Committee hosted a Toy Drive which brought a generous amount of toys and gifts that were donated to needy families through local schools.

The free event was hosted by the Elderly Affairs Committee and sponsored by Chen Medical Center. Food was provided by Pampered Chef and music by the Easy Livin’ Band. Elite Medical Center, Palmetto Health Center, and Senator Rene Garcia all donated gifts and gift cards for the raffle.

“It was wonderful to see our town’s seniors come together to celebrate the holidays,” said Mayor Wayne Slaton. “Thanks to town staff, members of the Elderly Affairs Committee and all of those involved in making this event a great success.”

“This is our way of saying thank you to our elderly,” said Councilmember Tony Lama. “Many of them work tirelessly as volunteers helping the community. Elderly Affairs Committee chairman Luis Collazo and his committee do so much for our elderly. His commitment and leadership is what allows us to better serve the elderly of Miami Lakes.”
