The Main Street Live! concert series begins Jan. 16 with Nestor Zurita and Los Robustos, who play Latin Jazz fusion/Brazilian music.
They’re the first of five bands to perform free concerts in the heart of downtown on the third Friday of each month through May.
The artists and the kind of music they make are varied, and that was intentional, said Felicia Salazar, chair of the Cultural Affairs Committee.“This year we wanted to offer different genres of music for people to enjoy,” said Salazar, chair of the Miami Lakes Cultural Affairs Committee, which is producing the shows.
Artists are welcome to set up easels and paint during the shows, Salazar said.
Presenters are The Graham Companies, Main Street Merchants and the Miami Lakes Economic Development Committee.
All performances will be held from 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at 6710 Main St.
The dates are Jan. 16; Feb. 20; March 20; Aug. 17 and May 15.
Residents can bring a chair and enjoy the shows.
