Mater Lakes Academy’s boys cross country team placed fourth out of 32 teams in the 2022 FHSAA State Class 2A championships. The meet was held Nov. 5 at Florida State University. Mater Lakes’ top finishers in the boys state race were Jeshua Osorio (10th) and Sebastian Corapse (14th). Mater Lakes was one of only two schools with multiple finishers in the top 14 (state champion Bolles was the other), and Corapse was the highest-placing sophomore in the field.
Mater Lakes got to the state meet after placing first out of 20 teams in the District championship on Oct. 18 in Boca Raton, then placing first again out of 16 teams at the Regional championship on Oct. 27.
Also, Isabella Fernandez from Mater Lakes was fifth in the girls District race and seventh in the girls Regional race to qualify as an individual for the state meet.
