St. Thomas University President David A. Armstrong told the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce that he wants the Miami Gardens school to “become the premier Catholic university in the south.”
During his five-year tenure, Armstrong has doubled enrollment and increased fundraising; started the football team and built several new buildings, fields, three residence halls and even opened a pub on campus.
STU is also offering naming rights for classroom buildings, including those dedicated to programs for nursing and health sciences and food and fashion, he said on Sept. 13.
The chamber’s next meeting at Miami Lakes Hotel on Main is set for Oct. 11, with guest speaker Juan Fernandez-Barquin Miami-Dade Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller.
Coming up is the 23rd Annual Networking Business Expo on Nov. 2, open to companies and the public.
The Expo provides opportunities to connect with local businesses while having fun, with entertainment, prizes and giveaways.
