Miami Lakes Congregational's Summer Concert scheduled for June 3

Miami Lakes Congregational Church’s Concert Series presents an early summer concert at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, at the church, 6701 Miami Lakeway South.

The program will feature “Melodias de Dos Orillas’ (Melodies from Two Shores) with masterworks of Cuba and Spain. Some of the most well-known melodies will be sung by Vienna Conservatory alumni, tenor Carlos Silva, and Cuban soprano Raquel Rubi.

Other melodies will be performed instrumentally by the Miami Chamber er ‘Pops’ Players, with local talented musicians including German Marcano on cello, Hernan Matute on bass, Nicolas Real on flute, and Adolfo Vidal on piano, among others.

The concert will include the lyric works of de Falla, Lecuona, Guerrero, classics like ‘No Puede Ser’ as well as instrumental delights like danzon ‘Ay Mama, Te Vi Bailando, and Danza Española by de Falla, plus a few more surprises with popular songs of Andrea Bocelli.

The Concert Series is directed by the church’s director of music Adolfo Vidal, a concert pianist with a doctorate degree in music from the University of Miami and Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.

Suggested donation for the concert is $15. A reception will follow the performance. The program is supported by South Florida Friends of Classical Music.
