Zonta Club of Miami Lakes awards scholarships to Goleman graduates

     The Scholarship Committee of the Zonta Club of Miami Lakes awarded $1,000 scholarships to two graduates of Barbara Goleman Senior High School in May. The students will continue their educations in the state of Florida.

Students shine at U.S. Chess SuperNationals contest in Orlando

     Two local chess teams performed well at the U.S. Chess SuperNationals Tournament held in Orlando from May 9 - 11.      Hannah Quinones-Cao, an eighth grader at Miami Lakes K-8 Center, won 1st Place in the American Chemical Society’s Illustrated Poem contest. Her original poem and art for the theme “Glaciers: Hot Topic, Cool Chemistry” “illustrated how climate change affects glaciers and the vital role chemistry plays in understanding the changes,” the school said in an email.      ...
