     The Miami-Dade County Library branch in Miami Lakes is offering classes.  

     Most events require preregistration and popular courses may fill up early. Sign up in advance to avoid being shut out of classes.

     The library at 6699 Windmill Gate Rd. is open Monday - Thursday, 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., and closed Sunday.

Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing for Toddlers  Wed., Sept. 17, Oct. 1  11 a.m. – 12 p.m.  Toddlers and caregivers will hear stories, sing songs and enjoy activities.  Ages 18 mos. – 3

Pop Culture during WW II  Wed., Sept. 17 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.  How did superheroes and animated cartoons help the U.S. during WW II? Teens are welcome to learn how in an interactive presentation and trivia game. Small prizes available while supplies last. Ages 12 – 18

Talk Crafty to Me!  Thurs., Sept. 18  11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  Make crafts with other creatives. Materials provided.  Ages 19+

Tai Chi for Beginners  Fri., Sept. 19, 26    11 a.m. – Noon  Led by a library staffer, this class of gentle and graceful movements is designed to improve balance, coordination, focus and mental health. Wear loose, comfortable clothing.  Ages 19+

Homework Help & Tutoring   Sat., Sept. 20, 27, Oct. 4.    10 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Certified teachers tutor students in reading, math and science for one-hour sessions. For grades K-12. Beyblade Burst Battle  Tues., Sept. 23   12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.   Connect with other players and test your skills. The library will have an arena; bring your own Bey-blades to compete.  Ages 8+

Teen Library Advisory Committee – Felt Crafts   Wed., Sept. 24  4 p.m. - 5 p.m.   Earn volunteer hours and make the library a place for you and your friends. Plan and implement events, give feedback about books, movies, video games and more.  Ages 13 – 19

Just Keep Jumping!  Sat., Sept. 27  2 p.m. – 3 p.m.  Join Jump Generation to learn jump rope skills. Wear comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes and get fit. Ages 8 – 12

Use Your Voice  Wed., Oct. 1  4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.  Learn to express yourself and use your true voice in a fun way with TV and film professional voice actor Mauriett Chayeb-Mendez. Hear about her story and get a mini vocal lesson.  Ages 7 – 18

STEM Saturday  Sat., Oct. 4  2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.  Do a STEM activity with FIU undergraduate and medical students. Materials provided. Made possible by the Green Family Foundation NeighborhoodHELP.
