The Miami-Dade County Library branch in Miami Lakes is offering classes.  

     Most events require preregistration and popular courses may fill up early. Sign up in advance to avoid being shut out of classes.

     The library at 6699 Windmill Gate Rd. is open Monday - Thursday, 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., and closed Sunday.

Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing for Toddlers 

Wed., Nov. 19

11 a.m. – 12 p.m. 

Toddlers and caregivers will hear stories, sing songs and enjoy activities.  Ages 18 mos. – 3

Teen Library Advisory Board

Wed., Nov. 19

4 p.m. - 5 p.m. 

Earn volunteer hours and make the library a place for you and your friends. Plan and implement events, give feedback about books, movies, video games and more.

Slime Making Craft

Thurs., Nov. 20

4 p.m. – 5 p.m.

A hands-on slime making time. Learn the science behind polymers while mixing colors, glitter and textures to create your own unique slime. 

Ages 8 – 12

Tai Chi for Beginners

11 a.m. – Noon

Led by a library staffer, this class of gentle and graceful movements is designed to improve bal-ance, coordination, focus and mental health. Wear loose, comfortable cloth-ing.

Greeting Card Craft with Paper Circuits

4 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Create your own light-up greeting cards using simple paper circuits and LEDs. While supplies last, you must register.

Homework Help & Tutoring

10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

STEM Saturday

Do a STEM activity with FIU undergraduate and medical students. Materials provided, registration required. Made possible by the Green Family Foundation NeighborhoodHELP.
