      The Miami-Dade County Library branch in Miami Lakes is offering classes.  Most events require preregistration and popular courses may fill up early.  Sign up in advance to avoid being shut out of classes.

Nutrition and Health Class presented by Feeding South Florida  Tues., Oct. 15  1 p.m. – 2 p.m.  Learn to prepare delicious, nutritious meals and get tips on how to eat healthy while on a budget.

Recipes and treats provided.  Ages 19+

Write-Up: Teen Book Reviews  Wed., Oct 2, 9, 16  4 p.m. – 5 p.m.  Read a book and write a review to be in the online catalog. Earn 4 hours of community service. Ages 13 – 18

Library Card Design Contest for Teens: Mythology Drawing  Wed., Oct. 2  4 p.m. – 5 p.m.  Instructor David Sexton will teach step-by-step how to create your own mythological creature. Ages 13 – 19

Salsa Dancing for Beginners  Thurs., Oct. 3   11 a.m. – Noon   Professional Latin dancer and award-winning performer Suzy Q. will teach you how to move, groove and ditch your two left feet. Ages 18+

Florida Licensing on Wheels  Fri., Oct. 4  10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Renew, replace or update a driver’s license, get a new state ID card, renew a registration, buy a special license plate and more. Ages 19+

Homework Help & Tutoring   Sat., Oct. 5, 12, 19  10 a.m. – 1 p.m.   Certified teachers tutor students in reading, math and science for one-hour sessions. For grades K-12. STEM Saturday  Sat., Oct. 5. 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.  Do a STEM activity with FIU undergraduate and medical students. Materials provided. Made possible by the Green Family Foundation NeighborhoodHELP. Ages 5 – 15

Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing for toddlers en dos idiomas   Tues., Oct. 8. 11 a.m. – Noon.   Toddlers and caregivers will hear stories, sing songs and enjoy activities in both English and Spanish.

Bridging Generations: Art & Conversation  Wed., Oct. 9  4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.  Seniors and teens are invited to paint during this workshop, guided by a professional artist. Ages 12+

Financial Wellness Education Workshop  Fri., Oct. 11. 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Florida Office of Financial Regulation presents a financial wellness program.  Ages 19+

Ramen Bowl-Making Workshop  Build and decorate a ramen bowl that will be air dried and used for décor. Ages 12 – 19

Talk Crafty to Me!  Thurs., Oct. 17  11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  Make cool crafts and meet other creatives. Materials provided. Ages 19+

Online Event: Draw with Illustrator Ashley Belote. Thurs., Oct. 17.  4 p.m. – 5 p.m.  Zoom into “Frankenslime” with Ashley Belote, who illustrated Joy Keller’s book. Belote will show her process and teach viewers how to draw a character from the story.  Zoom link mailed to registrants. Ages 4 – 7
