The Miami-Dade County Library branch in Miami Lakes is offering classes.

     The library at 6699 Windmill Gate Rd. is open Monday - Thursday, 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., and closed Sunday. 

Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing for Toddlers 

Wed., March 19, April 2    11 a.m. – 12 p.m. 

Toddlers and caregivers will hear stories, sing songs and enjoy activities.  Ages 18 mos. – 3

Get Creative with 704 Crafty Creations * Event is full

Wed., March 19   4 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Using high-quality Decoden cream, hand decorate transparent phone cases, hair brushes and other items with vibrant, intricate designs tailored to your style. Bring your own accessories to decorate. Made possible by the Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board.  Ages 13 – 19

Tai Chi for Beginners

Led by a library staffer, this class of gentle and graceful movements is designed to improve balance, coordination, focus and mental health. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Ages 19+

LEGO @ Your Library

Build during LEGO hour at the library. Blocks will be provided.  Ages 8+

Bookmarks with Pressed Flowers Workshop

Sat., March 22  3 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Create beautiful, personalized bookmarks using pressed flowers. Perfect for gifts or to keep. Ages 6

Cake Decorating Workshop for Teens *Event is full

Sat., March 29   1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Led by Love, Grace Sweets, build and decorate your own vanilla cake. Materials and tips provided. Made possible by the Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board.  Ages 12 - 18 

Chess Free Play: Think, Move, Play

Whether a beginner or experienced, test your chess playing skills in a friendly game.  Ages 8+

Kowai Yo! Demons, Monsters and Spirits in Japan

Wed., April 2  4 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Explore the world of yokai, monsters and spirits from Japanese folklore. Made possible by the Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board. Presented by the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach.  Ages 13+

Create a Croton-inspired Print – Autism Acceptance Month activity

Thurs., April 3   11 a.m. – noon

Use croton leaves and acrylic paint to print colorful patterns on canvas boards. The program is designed to engage participants at all levels of development.  Ages 19+

Wild Animation: Animation Design

Thurs., April 3   4 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Design a storyboard about protecting our ecosystem, then make a flipbook and learn how film animators connect images to make moving pictures.  Ages 5 – 12

Homework Help & Tutoring  

Sat., April 5   10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
