Miami Lakes Library Programs in December

   The Miami-Dade County Library branch in Miami Lakes is offering these online and in-person classes. Space is limited, registration may be required.

Tai Chi for Beginners  Thurs., Dec. 1, 8, 15, 22. 11 a.m. - Noon.

Learn gentle movements to increase strength, flexibility and balance. Call 305-822-6520.  Ages 19+.

Florida Licensing on Wheels (FLOW) Fri., Dec. 2  10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Renew a driver’s license, get a replacement; change a name/address; get an ID card; renew vehicle registration or buy a specialty tag. 

Ages 18+.

Homework Help & Tutoring  Sat. Dec. 3, 10, 17  10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Certified teachers of reading, math and science meeting small groups of students in one-hour sessions.

STEM Saturday Sat., Dec. 3 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Hands-on activity with FIU undergrad and medical school students. Materials provided. Made possible by the Green Family Foundation NeighborhoodHELP.

Family Movie Marathon Mon., Dec. 5, 12, 19 10 a.m. - 2 p.m  Enjoy movies for the whole family. All ages.

Talking is Teaching: Talk, read, sing for toddlers in dos idiomas Tues., Dec. 6, 13, 20, 27 11 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Stories, songs and activities for toddlers and caregivers in English and Spanish.

Anime Holiday Party Wed. Dec. 7 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Discover through anime how holidays are celebrated in Japan.  Ages 12 - 18.

Coding with RobotPets 2.0 Thurs., Dec. 8, 15, 22  4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Explore the world of robotics, build simple animal models that teach the fundamentals of robotic design.

Miami Lakes Teen Advisory Board Wed. Dec. 14, 21, 28 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Earn service hours while making a difference in the community and working to improve the library for teenagers.

Ages 16 - 19. 

Fall Mosquito Awareness Tour: Online Wed. Dec. 14 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Learn all about mosquitoes, how to protect against them and keep them from becoming a nuisance in your home. Presented by the Miami-Dade County Mosquito Control & Habitat Management Division.

Winter STEAM Camp Tues, Dec. 27; Wed., Dec. 28; Thurs., Dec. 29  2 p.m. - 3 p.m. Hands-on, interactive activities.  Ages 8-12.

     The library at 6699 Windmill Gate Rd. is open Mon. - Thurs., 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Fri. and Sat. 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.  It is closed Sundays and some Mondays. Check for hours and class information:
