For Children and families:
Fizz, Boom Bang! Family Storytime – Enjoy stories and activities that will spark scientific curiosity. Registration required for ages 5-12 at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2.
Summer Reading Program – From now to July 19, a time to get electrified with a good book, discover sizzling finds, or start a reading chain reaction at the library. Sign up for the Summer Reading Program where participants can win great prizes.
Family Game Day - Family Game Day presents Lego Mania. Enjoy building your own creations with Legos at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 5.
Bookmaking with Style – Having lived and worked throughout Europe, local artist Nereida Garcia-Ferraz knows a thing or two about art and its relation to books. Join her for a creative session of do-it-yourself bookmaking using recycled book covers, hand binding, and simple folded paper. Registration required and limited to 20 participants. Program made possible by the Town of Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9.
Freezing Physics with the Miami Science Museum – Using Liquid Nitrogen, one of the coolest substances on Earth, the program explores the four states of matter and how extreme temperatures cause molecules to act in interesting ways. Program made possible by the Town of Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 12.
The Ph is Right Game with the Miami Science Museum - A game style program with tons of audience participation by guessing the best Ph. Program made possible by the Town of Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 19.
For Teens:
Teen Club: Spark A Reaction! – Teens participate in the Summer Reading Program followed by games and more at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, July 8, 14, 22 and 29.
For Adults:
Book Discussion Group – Contact the branch for this month’s title. Meets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15.
Commissioner Esteban Bovo Jr.’s Mobile Office Community Outreach – Provides an opportunity for the community to speak with the Commissioner and/or his representative at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 14.
Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Community Outreach – A member of Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart’s staff will visit the library to discuss federal issues or any problem a constituent may have with a federal agency. Meets at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23.
