Miami Lakes officials recognized the town’s crossing guards in February, which is also School Crossing Guard Month. The guards take care of the town’s kids for nine months every year and are the first faces the kids see on their way to class, said Parks and Recreation Director Jeremy Bajdaun.
He called the crossing guards a family, and a part of the town organization that make residents feel safe.
“As director, I’m extremely thankful,” Bajdaun said.
