The Town of Miami Lakes and the American Cancer Society are teaming up to host the Relay For Life of Miami Lakes, a community event, where teams form, raise money and walk through the night, while enjoying D.J. entertainment, food and fun with friends and family. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 2 from noon to midnight at Miami Lakes Optimist Park.
The Opening Ceremony and Survivor Celebration will be held during the evening of the Relay For Life event.
The event is a time to remember loved ones lost, and celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The day will be filled with exciting activities such as bounce houses, pony rides, a mechanical bull, live concerts and more.
Miami Lakes expressed its appreciation to several local businesses and organizations who are supporting the Relay for Life. They include The Graham Companies, Misha’s Cupcakes, Casavana Restaurant, Y100 Miami, MY93.9, Miami Cancer Institute of Baptist Health South Florida, and the Center for Advanced Surgical Oncology at Palmetto General Hospital.
“It is an honor to serve as Chair for the 2015 Relay For Life of Miami Lakes. The theme of the relay this year is ‘MOOVING For A Cure’ in tune with the history of Miami Lakes. Our community has always generously supported the fight against cancer, and I have no doubt that this event will raise awareness and serve to honor those who have courageously fought against cancer and remember those unfortunately are not longer with us,” said Garcia.
“Our teams are comprised of amazing individuals who, like me, have been impacted with either the loss of a loved one or know someone affected by cancer. It is wonderful to see them giving back as a community and coming together to an excellent cause,” said Garcia.
