M.L. Congregational Concert Series set for June 11

Miami Lakes Congregational Church Concert Series presents a concert performed by acclaimed and Miami-based flutist Ernesto Fernandez at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, at the church, 6701 Miami Lakeway South.

The concert includes a voyage of jazz and charanga music from Cuba and Latin America, and goes as far as France, with the interpretation of Claude Bolling’s Suite #2 for Flute and Jazz Piano trio. 

The musicians include Fernandez on flute, Adolfo Vidal on piano, Herman Matute on bass, and Reinier Guerra on drums.

A versatile musician skilled in both classical and Latin genres, Fernandez has performed in Italy, Mexico, Grand Cayman, Nicaragua, Toronto, Cleveland, New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Charlotte, and New Orleans. 

Vidal is a Venezuelan pianist with a doctorate degree in music from the University of Miami and piano studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Versatile musicians Matute and Guerra have performed in concerts in more than 30 different countries. 

The suggest donation is $15. A reception will follow the performance. The program is supported by South Florida Friends of Classical Music.
